It is an honour and humbling to be nominated for the 2020 Child Friendly Leeds Awards 2020.
Its even more so special thinking that we have actually made the SHORTLIST.
The awards ceremony, which is now in its 7th year is taking place on February 6th, its an event that celebrates the hard work that many people are doing across the city of Leeds to make our City the best place for children and young people to grow up in.
The category that we have made the shortlist in is Adult making a difference for young people (21+), its a real sense of proudness and accolode to be nominated but to be grouped together with everyone nominated let alone making the short list is a very special feeling indeed.
You can see the Yorkshire Evening Post article here .
We are truely thankful to everyone that nominted us and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We simply love the job we do, we are part of the community and our children our “The Future” everything we do within the community is for the benefit of the children and if some adults can have some fun along the way, we say Why Not !
We will keep you posted.
Thank you, much love Karl and Lia xx
Come on Get involved ! We Buttercup Lane Childminders have fully pledged our support and joined “we are child friendly leeds”
We already know that Leeds is the best city in the UK – but we want to make Leeds “the best child friendly city in the UK”.
Leeds…A child friendly city where all children are valued, supported, enjoy growing up and look forward to a brighter future!
Our City is putting young people first.
Leeds City Council have listened to thousands of young voices to find our what is important to the younng people of Leeds and they have
come up with a TOP 12 wish list they feel will make Leeds a child friendly city.

Did you know that the United Nations have a Convention on the Rights of the Child – As childminders in the community understanding and applying these rights are paramount to supporting each child in our care. Every single Right listed in the convention is supported by child friendly leeds but as childminders there are a number that stand out
Right 3. All who work with children should work towards what is best for the child.
Right 12. Children have a right to an opinion in adult decisions which affect them, their opinion should be taken seriously.
Right 23. Children with a disability should get special care and support so they can lead full and indepentent lives.
Right 28. Children have the right to an education.
Right 31. Children have the right to play.
We wonder how many people know Right 42. The government should make the convention known to all adults, children and young people.
If you want to find out how we adopt all the practices into our home and setting here at Buttercup Lane Childminders speak to either Karl or Lia.

Buttercup Lane Childminders are commited to delivering exception child care to each and every child with in our care. We focus on each childs interests and we introduce new activities for all, keeping learning fresh and most importantly fun. We construct the “scaffolding” and we let the children use their own ideas to build their knowledge and experience everything that they need as individuals to further their development.
We had a suprise for the last hour or so today for the children .. Buttercup Lane’s very own Mr Tumble ‘East Ardsley Style’ of course.
Not quite sure who had the most fun the children, the parents or Mr Tumble himself but it rounded off the day nicely.
The fun has not stopped there and since loading the photograph onto the Pacey Website we have been inundated with appearance requests.

Since the beginning of June here at Buttercup Lane Childminders we have been getting excited over this years Olympic Games and then there has been Euro 2012. We have had early morning fun in the sun with the football in the garden practicing our footballing skills and dare we say that some of the skills shown were better than some of the England skills on show over the last few weeks. We have also been following the Olympic Torch Travels and especially today as it came into Morley. We have a number of fun and educational yet physical activities planned for whilst the olympics are on for all our children. Not forgetting Wimbledon, so we are dusting off the tennis rackets, its going to be one full packed summer and we intend to enjoy every minute of it.
